Simulation
Mastering physics is the key to success in switchgear development. By consistently applying simulations during concept development and design, we can address the physical requirements of the product at an early stage of development.
Our range of services includes the following areas of design simulation:
- Structural: static, dynamic, kinematic (FEM)
- Thermal (heat conduction, heat radiation, convection)
- Modal analyses (mechanical, magnetic resonances)
- Electric fields
- Flow and pressure simulation for fluids
- Multiphysically coupled problems
- Motion simulations (inertia, velocity, acceleration)
A simulation by KTE contains:
- Definition of boundary conditions, load analysis, and load abstraction
- Selection of the appropriate method
- Execution of the simulation, e.g., using the finite element method (FEM)
- Evaluation and presentation of the results
- Component and assembly optimization
- Subsequent adaptation design
- Detailed expert opinions
For the personal safety and arc fault safety of transformer stations and switchgear in the low and medium voltage range, we carry out calculations and simulations as part of the services of B&E Switchgear Development GmbH:
- Arc fault pressure calculation (pressure network, CFD)
- Arc fault calculation of thermal radiation (IEEE 1584)
- Analysis and verification of mechanical strength (explosion safety, tensile strength) and thermal stress (burning through, melting, structural changes) of components, systems, stations, rooms, and buildings
- Optimization of arc fault protection in preparation for type tests according to IEC 62271-200 and -202
